What is Wise Folder Hider

Wise Folder Hider is a Windows tool to hide and password protect folders, files and USB drives.

If you would like to keep your sensitive data away from prying eyes, then Wise Folder Hider Free is freeware that will help you do that. This program does two things: hide files and password protect them. That means that a snooper will not even know a file exists, and if the snooper manages to find it, it will be necessary to brute force the password in order to get access to the data.

Wise Folder Hider Free has a simple menu simple with three options: Hide File, Hide Folder and Hide USB Drive. How the program works is that it creates a separate partition for your hidden items, and that partition is hidden itself. In the case of hidden folders and files on your PC, that partition is created on an internal drive that you choose.

In the case of a USB flash drive or USB external drive, that partition is created on the USB device itself. If someone inserts your flash drive, they will not see any hidden files or folders. They will have to think to look for a hidden partition. If they do and find it, then they will have to crack the password.

Note that Wise Folder Hider uses double password protection. You can assign password to individual files and folders or across the entire protection. Double password is a bit gimmicky. One good password should be enough, and the double approach is more of a psychological measure perhaps. If a person brute forces one only to encounter another, then they may just give up.

You do not have to use the menu. The program fully supports drag-and-drop functionality so that you can drag a file or folder and drop it onto the window. You do not even have to use the program directly since it has optional context menu integration. Just right click on an item and choose Hide.

There are two versions of Wise Folder Hider: Wise Folder Hider Free and Wise Folder Hider Pro. Free provides all of the functionality listed above but does not come with any customer support. Pro includes support as well as advanced features, such as file and folder encryption, automatic password recovery and automatic updates.
